Did you know that today is Multicultural Children’s Books Day?

Yes! It’s the day where we celebrate and encourage the publication of multicultural children’s books. As a mother raising world citizens, I believe it’s so important to raise awareness for the kid’s books that celebrate diversity, and to make sure that classrooms and libraries have access to them.

I am proud to once again be a co-host for Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2018. It is in its 5th anniversary and was founded by Valarie Budayr from Jump Into A Book and Mia Wenjen from PragmaticMom. This year I was asked to review “La Madre Goose Nursery Rhymes for Los Niños,” and I can’t be more excited to share it with you!

La Madre Goose Nursery Rhymes for Los Niños

As soon as I opened the mail package, I fell in love with this book. I thought it had the most adorable title!

The gorgeous book cover seemed an invitation to gather your kids in a cozy place and read the book to them right away. The title gives you a nice glimpse of what you are going to find: a version of the classic Mother Goose rhymes with our own Latino twist. From The Itsy Arañita to Little Miss Amarilla, the nursery rhymes of this book will bring lots of smiles.

La Madre Goose is a must have book for every Latino household and Spanish-speaking children. If your children attend a Dual Language Program, I encourage you to donate a copy of this book to your child’s school. Through beloved nursery rhymes, this book incorporates Spanish vocabulary while immersing the reader into this fantastic world that only a well written book can take you.

Our mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in home and school bookshelves while also working diligently to get more of these types of books into the hands of young readers, parents and educators.
