Inspiring Quotes About Bilingualism

Whenever we are having a challenging day at home with kids refusing to speak Spanish, I like us refocusing on why we do things. Reading inspiring quotes about bilingualism gets us on the right track.

As my kids get older, the reminders to speak the target language are more constant. But it’s so important to remember that raising bilingual kids is a journey, and it should be enjoyed it.

It’s no secret that we shouldn’t impose the target language. Kids are smart and would see the nagging and imposing as a chore. When kids are reluctant to speak Spanish, we should create opportunities where they can feel the need to speak it.

If there is one thing that I have learned is that language learning is a process. It’s a different journey for every child, even between siblings. As parents, the best thing we can do for the difficult days is to respect their breaks while we continue to foster spaces where they are encouraged to us their bilingual skills.
