One of the perks of growing up in Ecuador was the proximity to the different cuisines of South America. Whenever I had the chance to travel to our neighbor countries, I always wanted to try a traditional dish that included seafood. As a culture enthusiast, I enjoyed finding the similarities and differences in those dishes against the ones from home.

This is how I tried many variations of ceviche, a popular dish in the coastal regions of Latin America and the Caribbean. There are great options out there, however my all time favorite ceviche comes from Peru.

The Peruvian Fish Ceviche is not only a classic in the Latin kitchen but is also the perfect-party summer dish. It’s so easy to make and if you are a Lent observer, this ceviche serves as a great  meatless appetizer with Latino flavor!

How To Make Peruvian Fish Ceviche

The secret to make this delicious ceviche is based on the fish. it needs to be fresh and the best quality in order to use it. For this recipe I am using “Mahi-Mahi” or also known as “Dorado”. But you can also use Halibut or Escolar. Don’t forget that Walmart offers fresh fish and vegetables for a great price.
