5 ways to enjoy life when you have a busy lifestyle

Exactly five years ago, my husband and I moved to North Carolina leaving all our family and friends behind. The move across country was carefully planned and well needed. However, this doesn’t mean that it wasn’t tough.

After the “honeymoon” phase when the streets of our southern town started to feel more familiar, reality set in. We were completely alone! Soon I noticed how being far outside of my element was challenging me to be more independent and creative.

Moving to another state was the start of a new life where I re-connect with some of my dreams. Deciding to work hard towards my goals brought me new joy and a sense of accomplishment. Change meant growth but it also brought more hats to wear in my already busy life.

How To Enjoy Life When You Have a Busy Lifestyle

1. Decide what you want to achieve

One of my all time favorite quotes comes from Alice in Lewis Carroll’s classic novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. After she comes to crossroads with two different paths before her, she asks the cat, “Which path shall I follow?” The cat answers, “That depends where you want to go. If you do not where you want to go, it doesn’t matter which path you take.”

Knowing were I want to go has helped me to be more intentional where I put my efforts into. As a working mom of three little kids, time is so precious, thus I want to be careful how I use it.

2. Set aside time to connect with your passions

Connecting with the things that I am passionate about helps me to feel happy. For example, I have always loved photography! On this Christmas break, I asked a friend who is a professional photographer to let me tag along in one of her sessions. The experience was not only educational, but also very fulfilling and enriching.

Blogging is also another passion of mine. It gives me a voice and a platform to share my Latino heritage and language. Setting aside time to write about things that I am passionated about is relaxing and empowers me so much.

3. Find a tribe

The concept of community is an important Latino culture element that usually comes very easily for us to embrace. Plus, we women tend to juggle so much in our daily lives that having extra support makes a difference. It takes time, but I strongly believe that finding a tribe is worth it. I don’t know how I would survive without my amigas who have been the greatest support and sanity-savers!

4. Take care of minor aches and pains

Latina women wear many hats. This is why taking care of minor aches and pains is important so our energy and hard work can be focused on what matters to us: familia and dreams.

Having Advil® Tablets in my purse helps me to enjoy an active life to the fullest without letting pain to stop me. It gives me peace of mind that I can continue to do the things that I love to do. Look at here how others are experiencing relief with Advil.

Especially on weekdays when I am usually running all over town wearing all my hats as a mom, school volunteer, my kids chauffeur and part-time employee, is a good idea to have a pain relief solution like Advil, that has been proven to be faster, stronger and long lasting on even the toughest pain.*among OTC pain relievers *Use as directed.

If for some reason, I forget my Advil at home or at my office, I know that I just need to drive to the closest Walmart to get one. This is so convenient since Walmart has the everyday low prices.

5. Exercise regularly

A popular Latino proverb says: “En cuerpo sana, mente sang” (With healthy body, healthy mind). Regular exercise is great for our physical and mental health so it is so important to prioritize the time to do it. Having my gym bag in the trunk of my car encourages me to exercise. When I can’t make it to the gym, turning on some merengue music while I prepare dinner does also the trick!

  1. I really like that Lewis Carroll quote about picking the path based on where you want to go (and it doesn’t matter if you don’t know where you want to go!) 🙂 And no matter how busy I am I find exercise helps make me happy and is well worth the time 🙂
